Halifax is our last port of this cruise. We had a Segway tour booked but not until 11 so we could sleep in a little. We made our way off the ship and walked along the boardwalk to our meeting spot. The weather was perfect and actually a little warm in the sun.
The Halifax boardwalk is a very lively place with lots of Adirondack chairs for people to sit in and enjoy the views. Lots of cafes, food trucks and different types of entertainment along the way. There is also a wide variety of boats to look at.

Our Segway tour included our guide and another couple also from the cruise ship. So a total of 4 of us. All of us have used Segways before so orientation was pretty quick. They also had headsets so we could easily hear the commentary.
Our tour took us along the waterfront and then up past the cemetery where some of the Titanic people are buried since Halifax was the closest port to where the Titanic went down. Next we went up to the Citadel which is a historic star shaped fortress perched atop Citadel Hill overlooking the downtown area and the harbor. The original Citadel was built by the British in 1749. The site was designated a national historic site in the 1950s and operated by Parks Canada. Every day at noon they fire a cannon which is heard all over the city. We made it up to the Citadel a little before noon and we left the Segways and did a quick tour, listened to the cannon and then watched the changing of the guard.

We rode all around the outside of the Citadel and then back down by the harbor. The whole trip took about 2 hours.

After the tour we went for lunch and Kathy remembered the place we had lunch 2 years ago with some people we met on the cruise ship. Kathy wanted a lobster roll and I saw fish and chips on our way in and it looked great so I opted for that.
Kathy had a local red beer and said it was great.
After lunch we took our time walking back along the harbor and browsing the shops. We even sat in the Adirondacks for a bit.
Across from the cruise terminal was a brewery so we stopped and Kathy got a small beer flight, yummy.
They had a lot of crafts in the terminal so we browsed among those for a while before returning to the boat.

We had our usual cocktails at 6:30 and at dinner we were talking about the rubber duck collectors that are on board and how they were having a duck scavenger hunt on our last sea day. Our waiter overheard the discussion and came to the table with his creation.
Our last day is a sea day and the Captain said we would be sailing very slowly towards Boston and expected smooth seas.

We have 1 sea day left and we have no plans except to pack. US immigration is actually coming on board to process everyone before we get off the ship.
This will be our last post for this trip. We have another cruise planned for November 9th on Regent and it is to the Amazon, roundtrip out of Miami. Thank you for following along.
