Dubrovnik, Croatia

March 13th, 2026

Today we had an excursion planned through Trip Advisor. We have been here a few times and have always wanted to go up to the mountain that looks down on Old Town. Trip Advisor had a 1.5hr tuk-tuk ride that takes you to the look out point and a few other places around town. They picked us up at the port and we asked our driver/guide to drop us off in town since Viking had a shuttle that would get us back to the boat.

We were picked up right at 10am and our first stop was at the bridge which we can see from the ship.

Our tuk-tuk driver was quite charming and the tuk-tuk holds 4 people but there was only the 2 of us. The ride up the mountain was chilly. There is a cable car that takes you to the top of the mountain but since it is off season it was not in service yet. The season starts in about 2 weeks.

At the top of the mountain there is an old fort and a fighter jet as a reminder of the 1991 war against the Serbs. There was also a lovely terraced restaurant overlooking old town and the ocean.

Our guide stopped partway down the mountain for this view and said that this is the shot of old town that is on every postcard that you see of Dubrovnik. It also shows the beautiful water color and how clear the water is.

At the end of the tour he dropped us off right outside Old Town.

We were excited about going back to Dubrovnik because we have a couple of jewelry stores that we have frequented before and we were looking forward to seeing what new things they had. We were not disappointed and picked up a couple of things.

We then headed to a restaurant that we have eaten at before and split a pizza.

The streets of Old Town and we may have had a couple of Aperol Spritz’s for lunch with our pizza.

Back on board was at 3pm so we took the 2pm shuttle back to the boat. We spent the afternoon reading and then had Linda & Michael over for a bottle of champagne that Kathy & Michael left us before they got off. Michael remains in the hospital in Greece.

We had dinner in the dining room and then we did 2 loads of laundry in preparation for getting off on Monday in Venice.

Next stop is Zadar, Croatia where we have a boat tour booked with Viking.
